He is currently caring patient with head and neck and breast cancer .He is involved in multiple ongoing research. and he is involved in teaching junior staff, and involved in multiple committees

Dr. Abraham Zachariah

Abraham qualified with a degree in Medical Radiological Technology in 2000 from the Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala, India. With a keen interest in radiotherapy, he gained valuable experience in multiple reputed Oncology centres, before joining the team at Tawam hospital in 2008. Currently he is a Senior RTT in the Radiotherapy department and responsible to manage the introduction of new techniques and technology, as well as the training of all staff members. He is an expert in the field of linac based imaging and image guided radiotherapy, with a keen interest in stereotactic radiotherapy.

He previously served as Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Mafraq Hospital for 14 years. He graduated from Faculty of Medicine at Aleppo University/Syria. He did his Internal Medicine residency at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, and his Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, Colorado. Since 2022 she has been employed as Radiation Therapist at the larges Oncology Centre in the UAE, Tawam Hospital. Elaine believes that patient care is the backbone of Oncology treatment and contributes a large part of the overall wellness of the oncology patient. She feels that in a radiotherapy department where the staff feels appreciated and valued, their creativity will blossom, and this will directly translates to the patients’ wellness and care. Fiona is Chief Quality Officer, Al Ain Region, SEHA - she has extensive health care experience in clinical practice, quality improvement, senior leadership and governance. Fiona is originally from Scotland where she worked in the NHS and the Scottish Health Department before moving to Victoria, Australia where she worked for 12 years. During this time she had senior roles in the Victorian Department of Health and healthcare facilities, including being the executive lead for clinical governance and community engagement at Melbourne Health, prior to her move to the UAE and commencing her role with SEHA in 2021. During her time in Melbourne, Fiona worked for 5 years as Executive Director Quality and Patient Experience at Peter McCallum Cancer Centre, where she led, and was passionate about, ensuring the delivery of high quality cancer services, improving patient experience and access to cancer treatment, particularly for Indigenous Australians. She led the development of the first Cancer Care Pathway for Aboriginal patients. This work had significant impact on Aboriginal health, patient experience and engagement with the community.

In recognition of his significant contribution to maternal health issues in UAE, Dr. Aswad was awarded distinction Fellowship of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of United Kingdom. Apart from the FFPH, he was awarded the Clinical Service Distinction Award (CMHS, UAEU), Best Department Award in UAE Hospitals (Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences), Outstanding Contribution to Medical Education in the Middle East (Arab Health) and many other UK national awards. Dr Shaheenah Dawood is a Consultant Medical Oncologist and Professor in Clinical Oncology in the United Arab Emirates. She was trained in medical oncology at McGill University Hospitals in Canada and subspecialized in breast cancer management at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During her training, she was awarded multiple scholar training awards besides ASCO merit awards. Dr Shaheenah has served as an editorial fellow at the New England Journal of Medicine and has an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. She has over 100 papers to her credit including 50 peer review original articles, 30 review articles, and 12 book chapters. Having served as a reviewer for multiple journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology she is currently leading the oncology clinical trials program at Mediclinic City Hospital, Dubai. She also serves as President of Excellence in Oncology Care (EIOC) annual congress held in Dubai and is Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Breast Cancer Summit (APBCS), Asia Pacific Gastrointestinal Cancer Summit (APGCS) ,the international BRCA forum (iBRCAf) and Young Women Forum (YWF) from over a decade.

Dr. Shahrukh Hashmi

Dr. Shahrukh Hashmi is the acting Dean of Research at SSMC, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
