Dr. Alaaeldin Shablak qualified in Medicine at Tishreen University, Syria before moving on to the UK to train as a general physician. He later trained as a Medical Oncologist at St. James’s Oncology Centre in Leeds before moving to the university hospital of Southampton to work as a consultant medical oncology where he stayed for 5 years before moving to Qatar. His subspecialty clinical interests include Colorectal, Upper GI and HBP cancers as well as Acute Oncology. He has a personal interest in academic medicine, particularly Cancer Immunotherapy. He completed an MSc in Immunology and PhD/MD in Cancer Immunotherapy from the Universities of Oxford and Manchester respectively. He has authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed journal publications and presented at National and International conferences. In late 2020, he moved to the State of Qatar where he is currently working as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research. In his current position, he is the lead medical oncologist for the upper GI cancers at the NCCCR and the oncology research group officer for NCCCR oncology fellowship program.

Atlal Abusanad, MBBS, MSc, ABIM, FRCPC, CIP, is a medical oncologist and associate professor, Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University and Hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abusanad completed medical oncology and a Clinician-investigator fellowships from McGill University, focused on breast oncology along with a MSc in experimental medicine of molecular oncology. She is a recipient of a national prize for innovative approach in supporting breast cancer survivors. She has been recognized by ASCO for 2 consecutive years as one of the authors of the best of ASCO connections blogs. She led the largest multinational study addressing burnout in oncology professionals across MENA. Her scientific research include clinical breast cancer, molecular oncology, cancer survivorship, oncologist’s wellbeing and narrative medicine. She is a volunteer in several breast cancer social and patient’s advocacy forms and a speaker at TED talks.

Hind Elmalik is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar, with special interest in gyne-oncology. Dr Hind is a Sudanese American. Born in Khartoum, Sudan where she had her early schooling, she went on to graduate from Qasr Al Aini in Cairo, Egypt. After a few years of rotation in various subspecialties, she joined the Arab Board Fellowship program in Internal Medicine at HMC and obtained her Certification in 2006. In the same year she also obtained her MRCP (UK). She then decided to take up Medical Oncology as a subspecialty and finished her Clinical Fellowship in Medical Oncology at the NCCCR in 2012 and was promoted to consultant. She then obtained the Certificate of the European Society for Medical Oncology and the Specialty Certificate in Medical Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. She became interested in Gynecologic Oncology and joined the gyne-oncology multidisciplinary team and runs a specialized joint gyne-oncology clinic with gynecology surgeons, as well as general oncology clinics. Her research interests focus on gynecological cancer, mainly ovarian cancer.

Prof. Khaled AlSaleh received his Bachelor Degrees in Medicine and Surgery with an Honor degree from King Saud University, Riyadh, KSA in 2000. He completed his training in Internal Medicine (2007), Hematology (2008) and Medical Oncology (2010) at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He is Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) as well as Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). Subsequently, he received his Master of Science Degree in Health Research Methodology in 2011 and completed a Fellowship in Lung Cancer with Clinical Investigator Program (CIP) from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in 2011. Prof. Khaled AlSaleh has long Clinical, Research and Administrative experience including establishing and being the first Director of the Oncology Centre as well as Head of the Academic Hematology and Oncology Division at King Saud University Medical City, Riyadh, KSA. Beyond Administrative and Clinical duties, he has been deeply involved in National and International research programs as Principal Investigator of the International Cancer Research Group (ICRG). He participated in the creation if this Research Group involved in 9 countries including 7 countries of the Middle-East/North Africa (MENA) region and 2 countries in Europe (France, Germany). In this context, He led the first large-scale Randomized Phase III trial in Oncology designed, performed and completed in the MENA region with 2 international publications. Additionally, he is deeply involved in the Program of “Fusion of Fundamental Physics with Artificial Intelligence in early detection of cancer using Liquid Biopsies”, including: • 7 International Proof of Concept (POC) studies for early detection of Breast, Colon, Pancreas, Stomach, Liver, Lung, Ovary and Prostate cancers as well as one Large-scale Phase III trial for early breast cancer detection using Quantum Optics and Artificial Intelligence, • 7 International POC studies for early detection of Breast, Colon, Pancreas, Stomach, Liver, Lung, Ovary and Prostate cancers as well as one Large-scale Phase III trial for early breast cancer detection using Raman Laser Spectroscopy and Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Nadeem Pervez qualified in Radiation Oncologist from Ireland and Canada. He worked in Ireland, Canada and Middle East at various academic levels. He served as radiation oncologist at Cross Cancer Institute and Associate Professor at University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His clinical work includes treating cancer of various sites with emphasis on breast and prostate cancer. He was a prominent member of Prostate Cancer Brachytherapy seed implantation treatment in Canada. He is initiating Prostate Brachytherapy treatment in the Middle East. He co-chaired breast cancer group in Alberta and contributed to Alberta Breast Cancer Treatment guidelines. He was involved in invention of newer radiotherapy machines. Nadeem was actively involved in contributing to Resident Training program and Clinical Research Fellowship program in Radiation Oncology at the University of Alberta, Canada. He was awarded best teacher award from residents to acknowledge his contributions. He oversees research projects from international fellows. His residents and fellows later appointed at key academic, clinical and leadership positions across world. He was invited as scientific speaker in multiple countries. Nadeem is actively involved in clinical research. He was able to secure multiple competitive research grants from awarding agencies. He was leading investigator initiated studies and involved in multi-institutional cooperative group studies. He published multiple research articles in reputed journals. He served in institutional ethics committees, research funds granting agencies, medical student selection committees, oncology conference scientific committee and peer-reviewed several Oncology journals. He is founding member in establishing Middle East Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (MESTRO).

Urology residency training was completed at McGill University in Canada then fellowship training was obtained from USC Institute of Urology, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California in Los Angeles under the direction of Dr.Inderbir Gill, the world leader in minimally invasive urological surgery. Played an active role with the USC team in developing innovative techniques in Robotic Urologic surgery & participated in demonstrating many live surgery cases around the World. Has been selected to be an adjunct clinical assistant professor of Urology at USC Institute of Urology. Assisted in developing and maturing robotic surgery programs in different hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Have performed many complex robotic surgeries that were done for the 1st time in Saudi Arabia & the Middle East. Officially licensed robotic surgeon from Intuitive Surgical and considered one of the highest volume robotic surgeons in the Middle East. Received several acclaimed awards including scholarship awards, outstanding resident teacher awards as well as several awards for scientific presentations & surgical videos at scientific meetings. Presented many abstracts at scientific meetings and has authored several peer-reviewed articles, reviews, & chapters. Have been invited as a visiting professor in different countries around the World. A reviewer for several urology journals & most recently joined the Journal of Urology - the official journal of the American Urological Association- as an editorial board member. A board member in both the Urology Scientific & Exam Committees at The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. Senior and corresponding author in developing the Saudi Urological Association Guidelines in Robotic Surgery. Most recently, played a major role in introducing robotic surgery for the 1st time in a private Hospital in Saudi Arabia. Namely, Doctor Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah.

Dr. Suliman Al Ghamdi graduated from King Abdulaziz University, Faculty of Medicine, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1997, and completed his internship in the same institution in 1998. He completed his Residency Training Program in Radiation Oncology from January 2000 till December 2004 at Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, followed by fellowship training in Radiation Oncology with sub - specialization in Stereotactic Radiosurgery of Head and Neck, CNS Malignancies and Brachytherapy in 2005. He also obtained FRCPC certificate on May 28, 2004. "

To further enrich his understanding of oncology, Dr. Ürün pursued a fellowship at the renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute, affiliated with Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. During this time, he gained invaluable experience and exposure to cutting-edge research and treatments, augmenting his expertise in cancer care. Upon returning to Turkey, Dr. Ürün's passion for enhancing cancer treatment and research led him to establish the Turkish Oncology Group Kidney Cancer Consortium (TKCC). Actively engaged in the global oncology community, Dr. Ürün is a prominent member of prestigious international and national oncology organizations. Notably, he is a member of the EORTC GU group and the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC). Additionally, he serves as a faculty member in the ESMO Genitourinary Tumors, Prostate group. Dr. Ürün has been selected as a participant in the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) Leadership Development Program class of 2023-2024. Dr. Ürün's primary research interests encompass various aspects of genitourinary cancers, including epidemiology, diagnosis, biomarkers, meta-analysis, and treatment outcomes. As a principal investigator in numerous clinical trials, he has made remarkable contributions to the scientific community, authoring over 100 peer-reviewed articles, presentations, and book chapters. Beyond his academic pursuits, Dr. Ürün is deeply committed to promoting diversity and equity in education and healthcare. He is passionate about fostering representation and engagement of underrepresented groups in clinical trials, recognizing the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in the pursuit of medical advancements. Through his passion for patient care and research, he continues to inspire and drive positive change within the field of medicine.
